Prasanthi Nilayam, 14th January, 2012:
program by Senior students from the Sri Sathya Sai
Mirpuri College of Music. They performed many Thyagaraja Pancharatna Kirtis and a Hindustani
number,
This was followed by a fusion music presentation by the Anantapur
Campus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. Members of
the Institute Brass Band and the Panchavadyam group together with
traditional instruments like Violin and Tabla presented a Jugalbandi. . One
of the visually challenged teachers of the campus presented an
autobiographical book documenting her experiences with Bhagawan while
the students performed Bhajans from an audio cd they released.
A significant feature of both programmes was the
backdrops that were made for the occasion. While the Music College
backdrop featured an Idol of Rama and a portrait of Thyagaraja
immersed in music, the Anantapur Backdrop was a grand mandapam with
many lamps.
